My journey to making juggling a sport

Since 2010 I have dreamed of making juggling a sport.

As a child, I was a very avid athlete. Sport was perhaps the most important thing in my life. Athletics was my sport. In 2008, I started juggling during a trip to England. In 2010, I became seriously ill and completely lost my athletic strength. That year, I decided that juggling as a sport should replace my beloved athletics. From that moment on, juggling would become a sport for me. When the World Juggling Federation (WJF) actively began recruiting people from all over the world in 2021 and the Netherlands was specifically mentioned, I had no choice but to participate. The WJF’s primary goal is to put sport juggling on the international map.

In 2025, the WJF organized the World Juggling Championships in Arnhem. The event took place during the European Juggling Festival (EJF).

I absolutely wanted to be there and had planned it well in advance. Unfortunately, I couldn’t combine my move with the event. Such a shame! Sorry!

In 2022, I also had an online meeting with WJF founder Jason Garfield and representatives from other countries.

In 2022, I took the plunge and founded Sport Juggling Netherlands. The Netherlands officially became part of the World Juggling Federation (WJF).

In 2010, I became seriously ill. It was so severe that I lost all my athletic strength. Unfortunately, I quit athletics. That year, I decided to take up juggling as my sport to replace athletics.
